» The town was first documented in 1399
The
former residence of the Schenken is the Old Palace, which was first documented
in 1399. The grand half-timbered building with its picturesque inner court well
worth seeing has become the landmark of Gaildorf. Artists in residence, supported
by a scholarship, live there alternating annually and add great vibrancy to
life in the town. The Arts Society vitalizes the town with interesting art exhibitions
in the gallery of the Old Palace. Today various cultural events, especially
concerts, are staged in the Wurmbrand Hall, for example during the Hohenloher
Summer Festival of Culture. The Old Palace is also home to the local history
museum and the Historical Society, the Theresientaler Folklore Museum and various
club rooms. Tours of the palace and the town can be arranged by the town council.
