Gaildorf offers lots of activities
» Our sights
Gaildorf
has many other sights to see, including the protestant town church, the Frasch
Mausoleum, which was built by the descendants of Hermann Frasch, the former
“Sulphur King“, and the Neues Schloss (New Palace), situated in
the middle of a large park and housing the present town council offices. Another
attraction for both young and old is the heated open-air mineral pool on the
Kieselberg. A lookout tower erected on top of “Kirgel“ hill in
the early 20th century still offers a panoramic view of Gaildorf and the surrounding
Kocher Valley. This look-out tower, so called the Kerner Tower, was named
after the famous poet and physician Julius Kerner, who lived and worked in
Gaildorf from 1815 to 1819, during which time he wrote the Swabian national
anthem “Preisend mit viel schönen Reden“ (Praising With Many
Beautiful Words).
